M.Tech Nuclear Science and Technology

Mody University of Science and Technology, Lakshmangarh offers 2-year M. Tech in Nuclear Science & Technology (NST) program. The course work covers basic concepts of nuclear science and engineering, plasma physics and fusion reactors, nuclear safety, nuclear waste disposal technology, radioactivity in the environment and applications of radiation and radio-isotopes in industry and medicine. The course curriculum derived from the needs of the Nuclear Industry and application-oriented pedagogy enables students to be job-ready. 

The Department of Nuclear Science and Technology at Mody University campus conforms to international standards with its knowledge base, experience and infrastructure and also has a Ph.D. program. The areas of research expertise include Atmospheric pressure plasma devices, Plasma modeling and diagnostics, Nuclear radiation detectors, High energy physics and Nuclear Instrumentations.

  • Plasma Physics Laboratory
  • Simulation lab
    • Simulate a variety of accident and transient conditions for nuclear power plants.
    • Manually trip the reactor or the pumps and override the ECCS
    • Change the operational set point or initial conditions corresponding to various power and flow.
    • Initiate malfunctions that encompass all possible disturbances like LOCA, Turbine trip Station black out etc.

Note: Mody University has AERB certified Radiological Safety Officer (RSO) for the radio-isotopes safety in the lab. 

For Two year M. Tech. Program:  B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ instrumentation/ Chemical/ Industrial/ Production/ Metallurgical/ IT/ CS Engineering or MSc Physics/ / Chemistry with at least 50% marks in aggregate with adequate proficiency in English are eligible to apply.  Candidates with MSc degree should have Mathematics as a subject for at least two years/four semesters in their undergraduate degree.  Final selection will be made on the basis of a written tests and interview.  Gate qualified candidates will be preferred and such students are not required to appear for the written test.


  • Tuition fee waiver of 20% is offered to Mody University B.Tech students on joining M.Tech programme.
  • GATE qualified students would be provided stipend as per AICTE norms.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on academic and research collaboration has been signed between Mody Institute of Technology & Science, Lakshmangarh, Sikar, Rajasthan and EMNantes Graduate School of Engineering, France.

The selected students may get a chance to pursue internship/training in EMNantes, France and Texas A&M University, USA with scholarship.
