Alumni of Goa Institute of Management (2003-05), Vasundhara joined HSBC from campus and became Vice President Business Banking when she had to quit her career to make time for marriage and motherhood. But then she made a comeback after four years (2016) – and is today the Chief Impact Officer, Drishti, a Mumbai-based NGO. Decision to quit the corporate world when it was going great was tough. And it was tougher to make a comeback after a break. It required re-skilling – as well as mental grit to fight it out again. She considers her grandmother as her biggest inspiration who made her realize that under no circumstances one must compromise on his/her studies and career – and also, there is no age limit for studying, as she herself completed her graduation with her own son.
She spoke about how corporate skill-sets are equally valuable in the social sector.
Students got inspired – and realized that professional career need not comes to an end after marriage. It’s all about an individual – if she wants to fight it out anything is possible.

A prolific speaker, Abhishek enlightened the students with personality development tools and techniques – as well as ability to manage crucial situations which mostly occur during interviews and group discussions. The topic of “Elevator Pitch” was discussed with examples. Students were asked to give a short description about an idea, product or company in about 15 minutes per student and convince the listener to buy it. Students found it very interesting, enthusiastically participated and gave their respective viewpoints. The students learned from this lecture that they should develop their intrapersonal and communication skills so that they can stand among others and explore themselves.

He gave knowledge about latest Indicators, Recent Development, Government Initiatives, Insurance Penetration, Insurance Density and Importance of Life and also about Health Insurance Sector. According to information in India there are 57 Insurance companies whereas in U.K. there are more than 200 Insurance companies present. Life Insurance is said to increase by the year 2020. The age groups of 25-54 are more likely to be in Term Insurance and he enlightened the students regarding the challenges in Insurance sector like salesforce, online sales, and Brokers etc. He shared his risk formula i.e. Risk = future+ objective.
Through this lecture students learned that how to manage risk in different situations and how to take decisions effectively.

Simran is a self-taught home baker, independent HR Consultant, TEDx Speaker, Cherie Blair Foundation alumni, and founder of Ovenderful (a healthy baking social enterprise, which means a business with a soul). An Economics graduate with an MBA in HR, she has worked for various organizations in HR Advisory services as well as in resource and knowledge development for over 11 years.
Simran delivered a lecture on motivation for woman and culture of society in an organization, how to lead in professional way and balance emotional and mental stress. She explained how to make effective HR strategy. She shared that most business hire women in HR, as it is a psychology that women understand things better than men and adjust better that men according to situations. People have different perception about woman in an organization but whatever perception the people carry, women have to be strong and prove them that they can do better than others.
Simran believes “No journey that leads up to the road to success can be without any challenges or difficulties”.

Nisha Yadav is a young, result oriented sales and marketing professional with the rich experience in her career and holds a Master Degree in Marketing and an engineering degree in Computer Science. She started her career seven years back, during this period she worked with the renowned Indian MNC- Ashok Leyland limited successfully gaining experience in Northern Africa and South East Asia.
She shared her experience, sales are affected by confidence and connect with the customers and for this one must improve their communication skills. As a Marketer, read the mind of the customers and make the strategy. There are two kinds of products, one like army products which do not require after-sales service and other are manufacturing products like vehicles which need after sales service. About 48% woman is working globally and 30% in India, people don’t give time to the woman for getting the job, don’t treat them well, but even if you get rejected don’t lose hope stand up and try again.

Rishabha Nayyar, Executive Director – Strategic Planning at Lowe Lintas, delivered a lecture on the Impact of Digitalisation on Advertising Sector.
Internet users in India has grown to 500 million since 2014. – and 77% of internet access is from Mumbai. Video content consumption has increased by 30X and video streaming has increased from 4 hours per month to 120 hours per month. Reflecting the growth of leading platform, Facebook grew 45% and You Tube recorded a steep growth 109% in users since October 2016 and the viewing is expected to grow 32% annually through 2020. Now-a-days innovation is very important and the audience are shifting, what yesterday was an emerging trend is today dominant phenomenon.
Students learned the lessons in disruption from the lecture, TV ads are no longer the only source of product information and the digital provide better understanding of context, type etc. than T.V, radio, print. Disrupting the idea of 360, disrupting the engagement, disrupting our imagination. Mobile is magic, there is more to it every time you think you have discovered it all.

Darshika Chandra is an MBA from Goa Institute of Management. She is a HR partner with an experience of working across different HR domains -organization effectiveness, performance and rewards, talent and leadership development, engagement and culture, HR systems and analytics. She had a great experience with HDFC, Godrej, and Nature’s Basket Limited and with 11 years of experience she joined Johnson & Johnson last year as a HR manager.
She shared her experience and suggests that take time to make your choices and never be afraid of exploring, be extremely aggressive in exploring yourself and also connect and collaborate well with people. Be open and connective with your family and build trust towards you as they are the one who will guide you correctly. If you want to be a good decision maker then you should know your business and sales of the company. One cannot be good at the first day of work so they will find mentor who will help and guide them in decision making. You will deal with lot of experiences in corporate sector, so it is important to be consistent and honest and not be judgmental.
From the lecture students learned that never be shy to go out and never be afraid of being judged and one should believe in themselves and never lose the faith in themselves that they will not be able to do it. One must unlearn something to learn new things and must be upfront in their opinions and choices.

Gargi Chatterjee is a chartered accountant and fellow member of institute of chartered accountants of India. She has a professional experience for about 30 years. She has been associated with electricity pricing under the regulated framework since 1996 and is highly awarded for professional achievements including being a recipient of the outstanding achiever award which is the highest award of the RP Sanjiv Goenka group of companies.
She shared her experience about her life success and suggest the thoughts which she follow in her life. In the lecture she tell about the competitive world where she mainly focus on positive and negative discrimination which is very important part of anyone’s life. She explained this topic by giving real life examples of women life as saying discriminations are those privileges we ask for as a women but some where you will find door will be closed for privileges as in her life on her first anniversary her boss give work at 6 and discrimination happened but she don’t ask for privileges and done her work. According to her never ask for privileges until it can be control and anyone cannot be best at all the things but have to prioritize and manage it properly.
From the lecture students learned that always hear to the grapevine in corporate and listen the feedback people carry towards you and put strong focus on networking, don’t make mistakes, respect others choice but always make your own choice. If you work hard and with some luck you will be there where you want.

Ms. Ashima Bhat serves as Head of Business Finance, Strategy, Administration and Infrastructure at HDFC Bank limited. She is also responsible for procurement and cost for the Bank. She has completed her Master’s in Management Studies from NMIMS .She has worked in various positions across the Corporate Banking , Supply Chain , SME and Emerging Corporates Group and she has over 25 years of experience in Banking .
Ashima shared her experience and suggest that there is no shortcut for achieving success in the world. Hardwork is the only key through which you can get success in your life. She said that she is from a typical middle class family and her mother always advice her that one should stand on their own feet and be strong towards your work and she was treated equally to her brother in the family and she is allowed to do whatever she wish to do in her career. She always want to do experiments in her life and this is the reason she did her MBA in Marketing and now she is working in a Bank as a Business Finance Head.
From the lecture students learned that the students should have specific goals in their life and one should be dedicated towards their work. They should learn from their mistakes and if they are interested in banking then they can work in IT, Operations, Investment Banking and Training to enhance their intrapersonal skills.
Anindita Sinha

Anindita Sinha is a creative thinker, dedicated, ambitious, result driven leader and thoughtful individual started her career in 1993 as a senior superintendent – Operations at Kolkata Airport. Then in 2006, she joined Mumbai Airport where she learned a lot because, everyday there was a new challenge. In 2011, she came to Hyderabad and in 2018 she joined L&T Metro Rail because she wanted to change her working line.
She is an expert in communicating complicated and sensitive business issues with ease, this quality makes her stand out of the crowd. She motivated the students and said that you have to be measured, diplomatic and intelligent in your work. They should groom themselves to survive in the corporate world. To enhance the immense knowledge, they should read newspapers daily and it will help them a lot. At this stage they should study and learn to open their mind and to take themselves to the next level. Always be practical and do not take harsh decisions it will help them in professional world. Do have deadline, don’t be complacent, should work smart and be professional.
Students learned from the lecture is to do only hard work. Never say no to any work because every work teaches us something. Never feel that you need priority, you need equality. Do not behave like it is male oriented work, be confident and independent.
