Mody University Students Performance in Largest and Longest Hackathon

Two teams from CET, MUST participated in 36 hours non-stop coding challenge, Green-a-thon, in Jaipur from March 19 – 21, 2018. An event dedicated to initiate some green solutions for the environment concerning pollution, waste resources and resource conservation. People from various colleges and organizations, like Delhi Technological University – Delhi, Arya College – Jaipur and various others were present with an unconventional and ingenious ‘Green’ idea for their start up business. A total of 260 teams that counts to a total of 10,000 participants had participated, and the event went on to be recorded as the ‘Largest Hackathon Worldwide.’

The teams from our college displayed their great valour and women power, and were among the top 10 teams in the finals, and most importantly, the only participating team that had a team of girls only, ready with their business model. Among several appreciation and acknowledgements from the evaluating officials, the Press and the media were highly impressed by their ideas for ‘Green Revolution’. The two teams, “In for Kill and Smoke Green” had fabricated the business model for ‘Krishi Dharitri – Smart Farm Irrigation’ and ‘Raksha – Indoor Pollution Control’ respectively. The top 10 teams might get an opportunity to work with Pollution Control Board, as part of their projects and operations.

SANGRAM 2018, IIT- Roorkee

The students of Mody University participated in SANGRAM’18, sports fest held at IIT Roorkee, Uttarakhand, from March 29 to April 01, 2018. Three of the University staffs Dr. Nitin Kishore Saxena, Mr. Ramesh & Ms. Pragya accompanied the University Team. More than 50 Universities from different parts of India participated in the meet including 40 students from our own Mody University. Teams from IIT Delhi, IIT Jodhpur, Delhi University, Thappar University, IIIT Delhi, BITS Pilani, BITS Mesra, Delhi Technical University, ABES University and some other teams participated in the sports fest. The Mody University students participated in various games and won several prizes. The details are as given below:

LATE SHRI PRALHAD P CHHABRIA AWARD 2018 OF IEEE TO MS. JAYATI VIJAYWARGIYA 

B.Tech. IV year, CSE Student Ms.Jayati Vijaywargiya (She is the Topper with 9.81 CGPA) has won the prestigious Late Shri Pralhad P Chhabria Award 2018 of IEEE which include the following

  • Prize of INR 1,25,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Twenty Five Thousand only)*
  • A Medal
  • A Citation

She has also been honored as the best student of SET by Accenture on International Women’s Day Celebration at our Campus on 16 March 2018.

INTERNATIONAL START-UPS BY CET STUDENTS

Two student groups of CET have submitted start-ups to AICTE under the scheme of Canada–India Acceleration Program for Women Entrepreneurs. It is a Joint initiative of AICTE and Carleton University Canada.

Both Start-ups submitted from CET, Innovation Incubation Centre in collaboration with Software development Cell of CET.

First Team members are Ms. Muskan Singla, Ms. Navya Marthur, Ms. Twinkle Baradia & Leader: Ms. Muskan Singla with the Idea: Domestic Pollution Control System& Second Team members are Ms. Sneha Agrawal, Ms. Sonali Sachdev, Ms. Shailza Barsania & Leader: Ms. Sneha Agrawal with the Idea: Krishi Dharitri (Smart Farm Irrigation). Both the team will work under the mentorship of Mr. P.K Bishnoi.

MECHANICAL STUDENTS INDUSTRIAL VISIT AT “AKSH OPTIFIBRE LIMITED”, REENGUS

An industrial visit was organized at ” Aksh Optifibre Ltd., Reengus”, on 28/7/18 comprising of 8 students of 2 nd and 3 rd year Mechanical Engg. and one faculty member – Mr. Nitin Johri. Visit started with a formal address by “Mr. Munesh Chandra” (Plant Head) and their team followed with Training Schedule (Enclosed), plant visit, query session and formally ended with lunch and group photograph. Students had an exposure of production facilities of GFRP (Glass Fibre reinforced Plastics) / ARP (Aramid Fibre reinforced plastics) on thermal and ultra violet systems involving use of “Pultrusion process” for fabrication of fibre optic cable and Quality control & learnt various mechanical testing methods of finished FRP composite product .

Students were exposed to::

  • Raw material, Planning and Production facilities
  • Putrusion process of FRP composite rods fabrication
  • Packaging
  • In process testing
  • Quality control

Outcome of the visit involved technical knowhow of a FRP composite product – for various applications, practical knowledge and technical skills required.

BENEFIT CONCERT FOR THE KERALA FOOD VICTIMS

A charity concert is held on 20th August 2018 by the members of GOONJ– the music club of ANAHATA, in support of the Kerala flood relief efforts. A charity of 4,200 rupees was raised along with some domestic goods for the Kerala Flood Victims through the benefit concert held. It was indeed a mesmerising performance by GOONJ. The team efforts towards social responsibility and the idea of helping the society are really appreciable.

KERALA RELIEF FUND COLLECTION BY KARUNA SOCIETY

Karuna Society members have taken initiative to collect fund, packed food items and cloths for Kerala flood relief.  They have collected an amount of 28,215/- from students, faculties and staff of Mody University of Science and Technology. The fund was transferred to the CM relief fund account on 24th August , 2018. For wide publicity of this campaign students worked very hard.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION AT BAL SEVA SADAN, LAKSHMANGARH

The members of KARUNA Society – SET, along with Faculty Coordinator Ms. Purnima Sharma celebrated the Independence Day with the underprivileged school children of Bal SevaSadan, Lakshmangarh. The celebration started with the inspiring performances by school children in the form of PT exercise followedby dances, poem recitation and group songs. The members of Karuna Club also presented a patriotic song and recited verses to inspire the children. The program endedby distributing stationary items and refreshment snacks to the children.

NUCLEAR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY STUDENT SELECTED AS RESEARCH FELLOW AT INDIRA GANDHI CENTER FOR ATOMIC RESEARCH

Ms.Charu Sharma , M. Tech. (NST) from 2015-17 batch has been selected as Research fellow at Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic Research at Kalapkam, TamilNadu. She will be working on the “Development of severe accident monitoring system for Nuclear Power Plant”

MODY UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WON RUNNER UP TROPHY AT BITS OPEN SPORTS MEET, 2018 (BOSM’18)

Students from Mody University of Science and Technology participated in BITS Open Sports Meet, 2018 (BOSM’18) held from 19-23 Sep, 2018 at BITS, Pilani. The team is led by Ms. Himadri Pareek, B.Tech. EE IV year and won the Runner up Trophy in Football. Our University played the finals with Jesus and Mary College, Delhi. The match actually ended in a draw score of 0-0. The team lost in penalty shoot-out with the score being 4-5. In athletics, Ms. Chetansi Chaudhary, Ms. Rabina Parsai, Ms. Himadri Pareek and Ms. Poorva Tiwari participated in 4×100 m relay and bagged the bronze medal. Over all Mody University  bagged 12 silver medals and 4 bronze medals.
