Overview


Dr. Binita Dev is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biosciences at Mody University of Science and Technology. She completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Botany from the University of North Bengal. Driven by a passion for scientific inquiry, she qualified the CSIR-UGC Junior Research Fellowship with an All India Rank of 50.

She subsequently completed her Ph.D. from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, where her research focused on bioethanol production from lignocellulosic biomass using marine microorganisms. She is currently engaged in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Research


Dr. Dev's research focuses on the valorisation of biological and agricultural waste into useful and sustainable products. Her doctoral work centred on bioethanol production from lignocellulosic biomass using marine microorganisms in a seawater-based medium. Beyond bioethanol production, her research interests extend to sustainable bioproduct development, particularly in biofertiliser formulation, crop health, plant stress biology, and bioplastic production. She has published in reputed international journals including Chemosphere, Biomass Conversion and Biorefinery, and Biomass and Bioenergy.
