Dr. Rajarshi Chakraborty is a scholar of International Relations specialising in migration studies, foreign policy analysis, and peace-building in conflict-affected regions. He completed his M.Phil. and Ph.D in International Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University, where his research examined forced migration, geopolitical transitions, and regional security dynamics in South and West Asia.

His work engages critically with debates on strategic autonomy, state behaviour in fragile political contexts, and the politics of displacement in the post-2021 international order. His doctoral and subsequent research map the drivers of forced migration from Afghanistan following the Taliban’s return to power, situating refugee flows within broader frameworks of regional power competition, humanitarian governance, and international norm contestation.

Dr. Chakraborty has presented papers at major international and national conferences, including the Annual Convention of the International Studies Association. He also contributes commentary on global politics, Indian foreign policy, and conflict transformation to leading Indian and international newspapers. His pedagogical approach integrates classical theoretical traditions with contemporary geopolitical developments, encouraging analytical and policy-oriented engagement among students.
