Dr. Ramesh Chandra Nayak is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Mody University of Science and Technology, Rajasthan, with more than 12 years of teaching experience. Prior to joining Mody University, he taught Sociology at Pondicherry Central University, Puducherry, and Ravenshaw University, Odisha. He is also empanelled as an Academic Counsellor for the Masters Programme in Sociology at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi.

He obtained his graduation and postgraduation in Sociology from Ravenshaw Autonomous College and his Bachelor of Laws from M.S. Law College, both affiliated to Utkal University, Odisha. He received his Doctorate in Sociology from Utkal University in 2013.

Dr. Nayak's research specialisation lies in the sociology of crime and gender. His doctoral research examined the professional challenges encountered by women police personnel and the coping strategies they develop within the gendered organisational culture of policing. Methodologically, his work employs a multi-method matrix guided by triangulation with particular use of the Ten Seed Technique alongside in-depth interviews, focused group discussions, observation, peer debriefing, and the Multi-Stage Ten Seed Technique (MSTST). His current research also explores gender dimensions of crime against women. He has participated in five research methodology training programmes and delivered four invited lectures in ICSSR-sponsored methodology courses.
