Dr. Sunil Singh is a geographer and geospatial expert specialising in Remote Sensing and GIS, natural resource management, watershed management, and sustainable development. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Geography from H.N.B. Garhwal (Central) University, and has qualified UGC-NET. He also holds a PG Diploma in Remote Sensing and GIS from DSPM University, Ranchi, and a B.Sc. from the University of Jammu.

He is a recipient of the ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship and the Young Scientist Award from the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology. He holds life membership in the Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS) and the American Association of Geographers (AAG), and has completed advanced training in geospatial technologies from IIRS-ISRO.

Dr. Singh's research centres on the application of Remote Sensing, GIS, and geospatial modelling for environmental analysis and sustainable resource management. His work encompasses renewable energy planning, watershed management, forest fire risk assessment, and environmental sustainability, employing advanced geospatial techniques and multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) models. He has made significant contributions to solar power potential assessment, agrivoltaics, watershed prioritisation, soil erosion mapping, water quality evaluation, and accident-prone zone identification in Himalayan regions. He is currently serving as Co-PI on a GBPNI-NIHE funded research project, and four Ph.D. scholars are currently pursuing their doctoral research under his supervision.
