One day IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast GWB-2024event on “Catalyzing Diversity in Science” has been successfully organized by the Tatva Chemical Society, Department of Chemistry, School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Mody University of Science and Technology, Lakshmangarh, Sikar, Rajasthan-332311 on 27th February 2024 in ABB SF R-201.The event focused on interaction on scientific discoveries that change the world and role/contribution of women in all those scientific discoveries. The programme started at 11:00 am with the welcome address by Ms. Sunidhi Garg and Ms. Anita Yadav. The dignitaries on the dias were Prof. Jitendra Binwal, Dean SLAS, Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Das, Prof. (Dr.) H. L. Singh and Dr. Sarita Khaturia, Head Deptt. of Chemistry, SLAS, MUST.Opening remarks of the event was given by Prof. Jitendra Binwal, Dean SLAS. Introduction of the programme and participants was given by Dr. Sarita Khaturia convener of the event. Participants have talked about various discoveries like discovery of penicillin by Alexander Fleming, polythene byHans von Pechmann, Pasteurization by Louis Pasteur.Participants also discussed aboutradioactivity research of Marie Curie who was a physicist and chemist,TuYouyou who is a pharmaceutical chemist and her visionary research on malaria treatment, Katherine Johnson NASA scientist, who calculated trajectories, launched windows, and emergency return paths that flew the first U.S. astronauts into space and Earth’s orbit.Some of the participants have also discussed that how women have overcome the traditional mind-sets and have excelled in professions like teaching, medicine, engineering, information technology, biotechnology, nuclear science, space science and many such specialized fields in the domain of science and technology.The event concluded with distribution of certificates among participants by Prof. Jitendra Binwal, Dean SLAS and vote of thanks by Dr. Sarita Khaturia, convener of the event. After that refreshment was arranged for all the participants in cafeteria of Mody University of Science and Technology campus.
