Introduction
The School of Business, Mody University successfully organized a 14-day Orientation Program for the newly admitted students of Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) courses for the academic session 2025–26. The aim of this program was to integrate the freshers into the university ecosystem by familiarizing them with the academic structure, institutional culture, centres of excellence, and opportunities for holistic development. It was also designed to instill confidence, build peer connections, and ignite enthusiasm among students as they embarked on their new academic journey.
The overall program was coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Jyoti Yuvraj Singh Kaur and Dr. Anupal Mongia as Faculty Coordinators, with Shruti Jajodia and Tarika Sharma serving as Student Coordinators. The orientation commenced at the University level on August 1, 2025, and continued specifically for the School of Business students from August 2 to August 14, 2025, blending academic sessions, industry interactions, alumni talks, cultural activities, and experiential learning.
Day 1: August 1, 2025 – University Level Inauguration
The Orientation Program began with a university-wide inauguration held at the Auditorium of Mody University. The event commenced at 10:00 AM and continued until 2:30 PM, welcoming students across all schools of the university. The highlight of the inaugural ceremony was a deeply inspiring address delivered by Pandit Vijay Shankar, who emphasized the importance of knowledge, cultural roots, and value-based education. His words instilled a sense of pride and motivation among the new entrants, marking a memorable beginning to their academic journey. The session also gave students an initial glimpse into the ethos and vision of Mody University as an institution that not only prioritizes academic excellence but also emphasizes holistic development.
Day 2: August 2, 2025 – Commencement of School of Business Orientation
From August 2 onwards, the orientation became focused specifically on the students of the School of Business. The sessions were held at the Smart Class, Room No. 008. The day began with a warm and motivating welcome address by Dr. B. S. Rathore, Dean of the School of Business, who encouraged students to embrace the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in their academic journey. Following this, a series of academic orientation talks were conducted. Dr. Manish Didwania introduced the students to the National Education Policy (NEP), elaborating on its objectives and implementation in the university context. Dr. Ashish Kumar Sharma guided the students about academic planning and how to make the best use of the course structures and credit systems, while Dr. Anupal Mongia sensitized the freshers about the examination system and shared important guidelines on hostel life, discipline, and student conduct.
The day also featured a distinguished lecture by Dr. Anirban Sen Gupta, who inspired students with his insightful perspective on achieving academic and professional excellence. This was followed by a “Meet Your Faculty” session, where the students were formally introduced to their professors, enabling them to develop a sense of belonging and comfort in the academic space. Later, Dr. Surendra Singh Rajpurohit introduced the various Centres of Excellence under the School of Business, highlighting the opportunities for research, innovation, and skill-building. The day concluded on a vibrant note with an ice-breaking session led by Dr. Meenakshi Sharma and Prof. Priyanka Tyagi, in which students participated in engaging activities like “Describe and Discover” and “Balance Battle.” These activities encouraged collaboration, creativity, and interaction, ensuring that students began to feel connected to one another and to their new academic community.
Day 3: August 4, 2025 – Ad-Mad Show
The fourth day was dedicated to creativity and marketing skills through an Ad-Mad Show organized under the Centre for Marketing and Tourism. Coordinated by Dr. Ashish Kumar Sharma and Dr. Richa Pareek, this activity brought an exciting competitive spirit to the orientation. Students were divided into groups and tasked with creating advertisements and posters for specific products and services assigned to them. They not only designed posters but also pitched their innovative ideas, staged performances, and showcased their creative approaches to problem-solving. The Ad-Mad Show tested their communication, teamwork, and presentation abilities, while also providing them with an opportunity to express their imagination and showcase their entrepreneurial spirit.
Day 4: August 5, 2025 – Career Council Webinar and Extempore
The fifth day of the orientation program was an enriching blend of industry insight and communication skill-building. The Career Council Webinar was coordinated by Dr. Lalita Kumari and Dr. Meena Sharma, who invited a distinguished guest speaker, Mr. Mukund Kumar, AGM – Talent Acquisition at Trehan Iris. Mr. Kumar, an LLB-certified trainer with the Indian Society of Training and Development and an alumnus of the IIM Institute of Marketing and Management, delivered a highly informative session on career development. He emphasized the importance of skill enhancement, adaptability, and networking in today’s competitive corporate world. His professional journey and practical insights inspired students to approach their academic years with clarity and focus on long-term goals.
Following the webinar, an extempore activity was organized, giving students a platform to showcase their spontaneity, communication ability, and critical thinking. Participants were given topics on the spot and had to present without preparation, which not only tested their presence of mind but also helped them overcome stage fear and improve confidence. The day proved to be a valuable combination of exposure to industry perspectives and the development of essential soft skills.
Day 5: August 6, 2025 – Alumni Interaction and Women Leadership Activity
The sixth day was marked by a vibrant Alumni Interaction Session conducted under the Centre for Women Leadership and Entrepreneurship. The session was coordinated by Dr. Meenakshi Sharma and Dr. Manish Didwania, who brought together accomplished alumni to share their journeys. The guest alumni included Ms. Sakshi Singhania, Founder and Counseling Psychologist at IIM Sambalpur; Ms. Disha Pareek, a CA Finalist and recipient of the Best Paper Presenter Award; and Ms. Kiran Tilwani, Founder of Kaya Wardrobe. Each speaker narrated her unique story of struggles, determination, and achievements, giving students a glimpse into the real challenges and triumphs that accompany professional life.
The interaction was followed by a student activity where participants were encouraged to represent any prominent woman leader from their locality or present an innovative business idea. This exercise not only honored the contribution of women in leadership but also helped students practice research, presentation, and public speaking skills. The event concluded with a sense of inspiration, especially among young women students, motivating them to dream bigger and pursue leadership roles with confidence.
Day 6: August 7, 2025 – Student Development and Financial Literacy
On the seventh day, the orientation focused on personal growth and financial awareness. The day began with a Student Development Program led by Dr. Surendra Singh Rajpurohit and Dr. Jyoti Y.S. Kaur, Following this, Dr. Surendra Singh Rajpurohit conducted a Financial Literacy Session that was both informative and engaging. He explained fundamental concepts such as budgeting, savings, investment, and financial planning, which are vital for students preparing to step into professional life. To make the session more interactive, a Financial Literacy Quiz was organized by Dr. Jyoti Y.S. Kaur , where students participated in fun and competitive games designed to test and strengthen their understanding of finance. This day reinforced the importance of both academic discipline and practical life skills, preparing students for future responsibilities.
Day 7: August 8, 2025 – Campus Visit
The eighth day was devoted to helping students explore the vast and resource-rich campus of Mody University. The campus visit, led by Dr. Pooja Pawria, familiarized students with important facilities such as academic departments, laboratories, the central library, hostels, sports complexes, and cultural centers. Each space was introduced not only as a physical facility but also as an opportunity for personal and professional development. Students were encouraged to make use of the university’s infrastructure to enhance their academic learning, research activities, extracurricular pursuits, and holistic growth. This day was significant in strengthening students’ connection with their new environment and giving them a sense of belonging to the university community.
Day 8: August 11, 2025 – Digital Transformation and Marketing Quiz
After the weekend break, the ninth day resumed with a futuristic theme. A session on Digital Transformation was conducted by Dr. Rahul Singh Shekhawat under the Centre for Digital Transformation. The lecture highlighted the profound impact of digital technologies on businesses, society, and education. Dr. Shekhawat explained how artificial intelligence, machine learning, and digital marketing are reshaping industries and emphasized the need for students to stay updated with technological advancements.
The session was followed by a Digital Marketing Quiz, where students were tested on key concepts of online branding, social media engagement, and consumer behavior in the digital era. The quiz not only reinforced the lecture but also stimulated healthy competition among students, encouraging them to stay curious about technological innovations in business.
Day 9: August 12, 2025 – Industrial Visit to Parle, Neemrana
The tenth day took learning outside the classroom as students embarked on an industrial visit to Parle at Neemrana, guided by Dr. Jyoti Yuvraj Singh Kaur and Dr. Manish Didwania. The visit gave students valuable exposure to real-world industrial processes, production techniques, supply chain management, and quality control practices. They observed the functioning of one of India’s leading FMCG brands and interacted with company representatives who explained the manufacturing processes in detail. This visit was highly impactful, as it connected classroom knowledge with practical business operations, enhancing students’ understanding of industrial functioning and corporate culture.
Day 10: August 13, 2025 – Nukkad Natak for Social Impact
The eleventh day brought a creative and socially conscious dimension to the orientation with a Nukkad Natak organized under the Centre for Social Impact, coordinated by Dr. Anupal Mongia and Dr. Lalita Kumari. The session began with a formal and encouraging address by Dean, Dr. Sunita Verma, who welcomed the students warmly and emphasized the role of youth in creating a positive impact on society. She highlighted the importance of blending academic learning with social responsibility and motivated students to actively engage with issues that affect communities around them.
Following the Dean’s address, students prepared and performed street plays addressing themes such as gender equality, environmental awareness, education, and social justice. The raw and expressive form of Nukkad Natak allowed them to use art as a medium to raise awareness and engage audiences emotionally. The activity was deeply impactful, as it not only nurtured students’ creativity and performance skills but also reminded them of their responsibility as educated citizens towards society.
Day 12: August 14, 2025 – Valedictory and Cultural Closing (Brij Mahotsav)
The final day of the Orientation Program was marked with unparalleled enthusiasm and joy as it beautifully coincided with the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami. The day commenced with a warm and motivating address by Dean, Dr. Sunita Verma, who officially welcomed the students and underlined the significance of the orientation program in shaping the foundation of their academic journey. In her address, she encouraged students to embrace the opportunities before them, develop meaningful connections, and actively participate in various activities to enhance their personal and professional growth. She also stressed upon the values of teamwork, creativity, and resilience, highlighting them as indispensable traits for academic excellence and holistic development. Her words not only inspired the young learners but also created an atmosphere of optimism and excitement for the celebrations ahead.
The program was organized under the Center for Arts and Communication and was led by Dr. Meena Sharma and Dr. Puja Pawria, whose dedicated efforts ensured that the cultural festivities were conducted with great creativity, coordination, and zeal.
Following this, the cultural program unfolded in a spirit of festivity and reverence. The session was graced by Dr. Rajeev Sharma, Professor of Bhagwat Geeta, who delivered an enlightening speech on the teachings of Lord Krishna, emphasizing their relevance in contemporary life. His address seamlessly blended spirituality with life lessons, leaving the audience deeply inspired.
The students then came together to showcase their talents through a series of enthralling performances. The Brij Mahotsav celebrations included vibrant solo and group dance performances, heartfelt poetry recitations, thought-provoking skits, and melodious musical renditions. Each presentation reflected the festive spirit of Janmashtami while also demonstrating the creativity, confidence, and enthusiasm of the participants.
The Valedictory Ceremony that followed served as a moment of pride and recognition. Certificates were awarded to the student coordinators for their dedicated efforts, as well as to the winners of the various competitions conducted during the orientation program. This gesture not only celebrated their achievements but also acknowledged their active involvement in making the orientation a grand success.
The program concluded on a soulful note with a serene Bhajan Sandhya, which brought together faculty, students, and coordinators in a collective spirit of devotion and unity. The melodious devotional songs created an ambiance of peace and spiritual fulfillment, providing a graceful conclusion to the day.
The final day of the orientation beautifully captured the essence of cultural values, joy, and togetherness, leaving an indelible impression on the students. It not only celebrated the festive spirit of Janmashtami but also reinforced the importance of unity, cultural appreciation, and holistic growth, making the orientation program a truly memorable experience for all.
Conclusion
The 14-day Orientation Program of the School of Business, Mody University, was a comprehensive and transformative experience for the freshers of the academic year 2025–26. From academic guidance and industry insights to cultural performances and peer bonding, the program successfully combined intellectual enrichment with personal development. The variety of activities ensured that students gained exposure to the academic framework, developed essential skills, interacted with alumni and industry experts, and connected with the ethos of the university.
The successful execution of the program was made possible under the leadership of Faculty Coordinators, Dr. Jyoti Yuvraj Singh Kaur and Dr. Anupal Mongia. The orientation not only prepared students for their academic journey ahead but also instilled in them confidence, enthusiasm, and a sense of belonging to the Mody University family.
