About the department

The Department of Foreign Languages operates under the School of Liberal Arts & Sciences, aiming to offer innovative and flexible language programmes tailored to the needs of learners. In a globalised world, proficiency in at least one foreign language beyond English is increasingly crucial for transcending cultural and national boundaries. Mody University ensures all students learn one of four key languages: French, German, Japanese, or Spanish throughout their academic programme, enhancing their language proficiency and career prospects. The teaching makes use of effective pedagogy and modern language learning tools imparted by well-qualified teachers with foreign experience. This proficiency has proven advantageous, especially in securing placements with renowned multinational companies. Beyond corporate opportunities, foreign language skills open doors to governmental and non-governmental sectors. The department offers Certificate and Diploma courses in these languages, additionally, doctoral programmes in French, Cultural Studies and Translation Studies are also available. The department’s comprehensive approach ensures graduates are equipped for a wide range of opportunities, including translation, BPOs, tourism, hospitality, defence, airlines, medical tourism, banking, entrepreneurship, diplomatic services, international organisations, academia, and higher studies abroad.
